Let me introduce myself. I have spent 25 years in the payments market, learning from scratch what payment systems are about, how settlements work, how to implement tokenization, contactless payments, loyalty programmes, PCI, 3DS, etc. It was a lot of learning. I remember the first weeks and months of contactless development in Poland, the first projects with issuers, acquirers and merchants. I remember doing NFC on mobile phones with Nokia as the first contactless phone (not yet certified at the time). Lots of development of different types of mobile solutions before smartphones and iPhone1. And many successes when we built the contactless market in Poland and in other countries together with some friends from Mastercard.
At Verestro, we decided to prepare this e-book in order to share our knowledge. It is actually very difficult to learn about card issuing and it is even more difficult to find information in one place. We believe that this product and topic require deep knowledge about technology, user behavior, user experience, billing, regulations, and therefore we have collected the most important data in a single document.
